Unfortunately, the burst's position in the sky is close to the Sun, and Swift could not follow up on the observations. Konus-Wind also detected this burst. Gamma Ray Bursts occur billions and billions of Light-years away. If they were any closer — especially "close to the sun" — we'd all be toast and I wouldn't be here typing this. They happen all the time. There are billions of galaxies out there. If one were to happen every second, we'd be seeing them for hundreds of years on end. That's Venus or Mercury, not a "suncruiser." Sheesh. It's tired schtick pointing that out over and over again. The grainy shot of the sun means what? I've seen that same IR pic of Uranus many times before. That hot pixel image of either Venus or Mercury is cool. Really looks like an eagle. Isn't nature, seen through electronic eyes, fascinating? Edit: Neptune, eh? Them two really are twins! (Duh! Triton is in the pic too!) So the "suncruiser" is Mercury. Very nice pics. Edit to add: According to the planet finder (located here: http://www.lightandmatter.com/area2planet.shtml ), you are misidentifying Venus as Mercury, and Mercury as this fictional "suncruiser." Now I am wondering if someone as smart as you is doing that on purpose. They are aerial ships flown by Space Men from Beyond the Moon! That is why they always face the SOHO cameras in exactly the same direction and profile. The photographs clearly display a doorway opening within the great Sun that leads to a wonderful Land on the Far Side of the Galaxy! Pacific Standard Time Hi Kent, That GRB was in the constellation Indus. That is far off the SOHO image. GRB RA 21:51 DEC -59:58 Suns on Jan 17 RA 19:58 DEC -20:17 But it was a good thought. Incidently it looks like the war on the Sun has started again. Further, I feel totally wrecked, and my cats are freeking out. ------------------------------------------ The above is correct. The SunCruiser cannot be a factor unless something else out there lit up in the burst..
