Quote of the Day

"It just seems like people are panicking.
I don't think it's going to be too bad."

~ James Ivery, an Alexandria, Va., resident, on a massive snowstorm headed to Washington that is expected to dump 30 in. or more; many supermarkets are running out of basic food items.

The Patriot Act will be canceled.

The troops will all be brought back home.

Homeland Security will be sent packing.

The National Debt will be fixed.

The Military/Industrial Complex will be diffused. Lobbyists will be painted purple. Halliburton will be sent to the Bermuda Triangle.

No more secrets. No more Bonesmen.

The perpetrators of 9/11 will be prosecuted.

Right?

WHAT'S NEXT? CONFRONT THE DEMOCRATS NOW!

The Washington Post: Many Democratic lawmakers have signed on to a vague plan for a phased withdrawal from Iraq, but the party remains divided between a base eager to get out soon and a foreign policy establishment that sees a precipitous withdrawal as potentially damaging to both the country's and the party's interests.

The battle is on

Well not really. We kind of need a president to help that along quicker. Sure they'll try, but mainly they'll just be able to stop Bush from digging us in deeper.

And don't forget; Bush holds The One Ring that was created by the Dark Lord Sauron during the Second Age in order to gain dominion over all. His powers have been greatly enhanced. It won't be easy.

The big power has been planning this for a great many years, they are lining it up for the most powerful bilderberger this side of atlantic, Hillary Clinton...It is amazing how I have watched with fascination as they manipulate behind the scenes while we play puppet, really saddens me.

Though I dwell in the eternal anywoo so I try my best to not let them get me down.

As you already know,

Patriot Act will remain untouched (since 95+% of Dems voted it in to begin with - as well as Patriot II.)
The troops will not be brought back home (have you really heard many Dems talk of this?).
Homeland Security might not be ramped up but it certainly will not be sent packing.
The National Debt will likely worsen or best case scenario remain status quo.
The Military/Industrial complex will surive just like it always has through Democratic or Republican leadership/Congress.
Nothing but secrets and bonesmen about since they hail from both parties.
Absolutely -- no one will be prosecuted for 9/11 - even Ms. Pelosi has stated how she will not go after Bush.

I guess the best that be said is that a message has been sent that the average citizen is not happy - but it is naive to think much of anything will change because most of the Dems are just like the Reps. Until we stop looking at the party and start looking at the candidate, nothing will change because both parties are fraught with corruption and self-serving people.

I am glad the Dems control the House and Senate but am not stupid enough to think much will happen. Let us all gear up for 2008 and the next step should be to focus on Independents.

I read a great rant at a blog I cannot remember and the writer basically said to the Dems:

"look. you're not in there because we're wild about you, you're in there because we want you to work for us and impeach Bush and revert the fascist laws ( basically) and we're going to watch you every day, CLOSELY. If you blow it ? You'll get voted out, too".

My sentiments and what I like about the shift is that we'll get more truth about where the rot lays and by 08 ( if we're not in camps) ...we'll be closer to more truth than we are today. No romanticizing this election. Let 'em dance. They have to earn their keep.

Well if thought does direct consciousness I'm so chuffed I could dance till my feet drop off. Anything positive has got to be better than the Bush/neocon years. I nearly jumped through the roof when I heard that the US ambassador to the UN is not going to be given a permanent job. He is a number one shit-stirrer.
And as for Rumsfeld, well there's always aspartame sales isn't there?
All we need now is to impeach Blair over the dodgy dossier that was used as an excuse to start that foul invasion - See this week's New Statesman article online

There's lots of good stuff happening. I feel better now than at anytime since 2003
Well done America, a brilliant start

edit

on a more depressing note the head of MI5 has publicly declared that the terror threat is so elevated that she can't guarantee the safety of UK citizens. She asserts that her resources are stretched to breaking point. Very odd this should come so soon after the US midterm elections?

You can thank a moderate Republican for that. As a member of the Foreign Relations Committee, Lincoln Chaffee is killing the nomination:

"But Republican Sen. Lincoln Chafee, who was defeated in this week's election, said he would block Bolton's nomination.

Chafee, a member of the Foreign Relations Committee, told reporters that he did not believe Bolton's nomination would move forward without his support.

"The American people have spoken out against the president's agenda on a number of fronts, and presumably one of those is on foreign policy," the Rhode Island moderate told The Associated Press.

The committee, dominated 10-8 by Republicans, requires a majority vote to send the nomination to the Senate floor. A tie would be the same as a no vote."
