The door is open. The temp is about 60 and the wind is just starting up. It's going to be a long, bumpy night. _________________ How strange is the lot of us mortals! I'm further north from you and it hasn't gotten here yet. There is a large old maple tree that's aiming right for my bedroom. I hope it poops out before it gets here! |

I'm way the heck on the other side but we had some wild weather here today, too. Our local weather man said we got 2 summer's worth of rain in 5 hours, .

wow...
weather is getting our attention again.
They're saying we're going to get a big storm tonight.
On the news they said lots of people will be without power
for several days. Trying to use a combination
of fear and the superbowl to make people
contribute to the overall program of terrorizing ourselves.
I have some trees leaning toward us too Murdock.
It should start blowing here around midnight
up to 50 mph they said.
The coast is going to get the worst of it.
Take care Arrgonaut.
Stoni - that's incredible!
that was today?

It started raining about 5:00 AM this morning and by 8:00 we had major roadways closed in both directions due to flooding. US 19 (anyone who's been in this part of Florida knows this road) was closed for hours today because it was completely under water.
My back yard looked like a lake and it came right in the back of the house but I managed to keep it from coming in the main part of the house. A lot of other people weren't as fortunate - our house sets up on a small hill.
I wish I'd thought quick enough to take a picture of our cat. I heard him jump the fence outside the window so I went to open the window so he could come in and I saw him swimming across the front yard - .
Several roofs collapsed under the weight of the rain - there was just too much rain in too short a time - including the picture of Bed, Bath and Beyond above.
It's still raining but it's just normal rain now and the wind has died down.
Y'all be careful up there on the other side. _________________

hard to believe Stoni.... that looks like hurricane damage.
One day of rain...
inconcievable!

Our local weather dude said, and I'm paraphrasing here, "Folks, this one doesn't fall anywhere on the charts. This is no kind of normal."
I think we're all redefining normal in relation to weather. _________________

Yikes-a-matic!
Looks like we'll get a bit of weather here, too, in the next 48 hours. Just in time for the Superbowl.
| Quote: | THERE IS POTENTIAL FOR A SIGNIFICANT SNOWSTORM TO AFFECT
SOUTHEAST MICHIGAN SATURDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING. RAIN IS
EXPECTED TO TRANSITION TO SNOW FROM LATE MORNING THROUGH MID-
AFTERNOON AND CONTINUE THROUGH THE OVERNIGHT HOURS. SNOW MAY BE
HEAVY AT TIMES...CAUSING A SIGNIFICANT THREAT TO TRAVEL. IN
ADDITION...WINDS WILL INCREASE THROUGH THE AFTERNOON WITH GUSTS
BETWEEN 20 AND 30 MPH CAUSING BLOWING AND DRIFTING OF SNOW
OVERNIGHT.
THIS SNOWSTORM WILL DEVELOP AS A LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM OVER THE
GULF COAST STATES...TRACKS NORTH TO LAKE ERIE SATURDAY AFTERNOON.
THIS SYSTEM WILL INTENSIFY CONSIDERABLY AS IT PASSES EAST OF
MICHIGAN SATURDAY NIGHT. NOT ONLY WILL MOISTURE BE TRANSPORTED
NORTH FROM THE GULF OF MEXICO...BUT ADDITIONAL MOISTURE WILL ALSO
BE DRAWN IN FROM THE ATLANTIC OCEAN. UNCERTAINTY REMAINS IN THE
EXACT TRACK OF THIS SYSTEM WHICH WILL ULTIMATELY EFFECT
PRECIPITATION TYPE AND THE LOCATION OF THE HEAVIEST
ACCUMULATIONS. STAY TUNED TO UPDATED FORECASTS AS THIS SYSTEM
APPROACHES. |
Scariest bit is this is normal weather for us. We just haven't had it all winter. Although it's coming from entirely the wrong direction. _________________ "I'm getting too old for this scary shit"

It's been raining pretty hard here for the last hour and now it's starting to blow real good.
We loaded up some buckets of water in case the power goes out.
I'm glad I don't care about the superbowl...
Good luck with your storm Croze. Coming from the wrong direction eh?
I have a feeling you won't be calling it normal after it gets done.
Time to turn my computer off and get some sleep.

That 79 mph gust was it. It died down from there. 1/2" rain was all but we've had ove 40" in the last 40 days.
I'm ready for spring...OK? _________________ How strange is the lot of us mortals! Each of us is here for a brief sojourn; for what purpose he knows not, though he senses it. But without deeper reflection one knows from daily life that one exists for other people.
